Texas A&M at Qatar ranked among top universities in the Gulf region | All & About

Texas A&M University at Qatar has been named the top university in Qatar and the third best university in the Gulf region for 2019, according to U.S. News & World Report’s sixth annual Global Universities survey.

The Best Global Universities rankings encompass the top 1,500 institutions spread across 81 countries. Universities were ranked on 13 indicators, including global and regional research reputation, publications, conferences and international collaborations.

Texas A&M at Qatar ranked 40th in all of Asia. Overall, the branch campus ranked 325th of all universities worldwide, with the main campus ranking 134th.

Texas A&M University has offered undergraduate engineering degrees in chemical engineering, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering and petroleum engineering at Qatar Foundation’s Education City campus since fall 2003, and master’s degrees in chemical engineering since fall 2011.

In addition to engineering courses, Texas A&M at Qatar provides instruction in science, mathematics, liberal arts and the humanities. The curricula offered at Texas A&M at Qatar are identical to the ones offered at the main campus in College Station, Texas (USA). Courses are taught in English and in a coeducational setting. The reputation for excellence is the same, as is the commitment to training engineering leaders of character dedicated to the greater good who are equipped to lead the next generation of engineering leaders throughout the world.

“Texas A&M University at Qatar has established itself as one of the top engineering institutions in the region,” said Dr. César Octavio Malavé, dean of the branch campus, “and this new milestone has cemented this reputation. This has been a momentous year for us — we graduated our 1,000th engineer in May and just a few weeks ago, our research program reached new heights with 14 new awards from the Qatar National Research Fund.”

He continued, “We have come so far since we started in the fall of 2003 with just 29 students and I am proud of the work we do every day as engineering leaders, not just in Qatar but in the Gulf region as well.”
