Unlike every year where Katara is the only venue for film screenings, this time the festival will be held also at Novo Cinemas in The Pearl and Vox Cinemas at Doha Festival City. The announcement was made as part of the annual press conference where the different films to be screened at the festival were presented.

The 7th edition of the festival will see 96 films from 39 countries, including the Middle East premiere of critically acclaimed “It Must Be Heaven” by Elia Suleiman. The movie illustrates the universal longing for familiarity and an individual’s journey to discovering identity.

“The essence of #Ajyal19 theme is ‘Find Film, Find Life’ – a quote taken from Robert McKee’s book on screenwriting. It captures a feeling of being changed by something we’ve felt from the big screen. A story, character or film” said Ajyal Festival Director and DFI CEO Fatma Hassan Alremaihi.
