Shop Qatar, the country’s only nationwide shopping festival, has gone a notch higher this year presenting a surfeit of fashion-forward events including fashion shows and beauty master-classes for the fashion savvy.

Kicking off its busy 2020 calendar of events on the right foot, Qatar National Tourism Council opens Shop Qatar tomorrow with a fashion show at Barahat Downtown Msheireb. The by-invitation-only show features collections by Qatari designer Hind Al Rumaihi and French collective Faith Connexion set to also provide a taste of what to expect during the upcoming Qatar-France 2020 Year of Culture.

The hip and chic can catch a glimpse of the up and coming trends in couture and ready-to-wear fashion around the world as Shop Qatar presents a rich showcase on the runway of the Spring/Summer 2020 collections  by 20 international, regional and local designers from January 23 to 29.

Once named by New York Times as one of the coolest and cultured malls, the opulent Italian-inspired Al Hazm mall which has been known for its breathtaking architecture will be the perfect backdrop for most of the fashion shows.

To open the series will be the international fashion show on  January 23 showcasing creations by internationally known designers Ahmed Talfeet, Laith Maalof, Baris, Naja Saade, Amjad Al Adab, Toufic Al Hassan and Saeed Malas.

International celebrity designer Nicholas Jebran will be having a solo show of his collections on January 24. This famed Lebanese designer is known for haute couture in addition to his line of accessories and bags. His futuristic interpretation of fashion has made him famous far and wide.

Creations by local designers will be on the spotlight this year with a show specially for their collections on January 25. The designers who will present their creations in this show are Soleil Abayas, Al Dukan, Modish, Sarmad, Sheen Design, Shaden, Lady Aysha, Tamader Al Sultan, The Black Pearl, Tamadr and Waad.

This will be followed by shows slated on January 26 and 27 which will feature Al Hazm collections. These will include haute couture and evening wear show by Saiid Kobeisy, Sandra Mansour and J Manzel; bridal wear show which featuring designs by Frida and Demet Yolancris and a ready-to-wear fashion show showcasing designs by The Row and Avaro Figlio.

Capping the series will be a Chinese fashion show on 29 January featuring celebrity designers Lan Yu and Grace Chen.

In addition, Mirqab Mall will be hosting a kids fashion show on January 24 showcasing a collection by Al Mana Group brands.

The fashion shows are open to the public and seats are available on a first-come-first-serve basis. Pre-registration is required and can be done online. More information can be found on shopqatar.qa or at the Shop Qatar registration desk.

As in the previous edition, this year’s Shop Qatar also invites style-savvy residents, makeup artists and enthusiasts to learn about the newest trends in the world in makeup offering a series  of  make-up masterclasses and workshops with celebrity makeup artists and influencers.

On January 13, celebrity makeup artist Hanan Al Najada will feature at Dior makeup activation  from 6PM to 8pm at Doha Festival City which is open to the public.

Al Najada will also hold a masterclass on January 14 from 4pm to 9pm at Park Hyatt Hotel. Entrance fee is QR1,000 and tickets can be purchased at Virgin Megastore and its website. Only 150 seats are available for this masterclass.

Dalal Al Refai and Lady Ayesha will conduct a free to the public makeup workshop on January 18 from 5.30pm to 8.30 pm at Lagoona Mall.
