Welcome to our school in the heart of Doha!
What is special about the German International School Doha (DISD)?
One unique feature of our school is that our German teachers and kindergarten teachers convey the German language, values and traditions of this beautiful central European country. In other words, it is only at our school that you will find Germany in miniature. The majority of our teachers are German native speakers. Our school follows the curriculum of the German federal state of Thuringia, including all traditional activities and events of German schools. What also makes us special is the cosmopolitan attitude with which we receive all children, regardless of their nationality, and the opportunities we offer them for developing their skills in independent learning and acting self-confidently in a bilingual and multicultural environment. Another benefit for your children is that they are continuously supported from nursery through to International Baccalaureate with a high level of pedagogic and academic quality. We guarantee individual support in small classes (on average, class size are approximately 18 children in primary school and 10 children for grades 5 to 12). This means that your children’s talents are supported in the best possible way.
Can children who don’t speak German attend DISD?
Yes, of course. This is what we are particularly prepared for. All children whose native language is not German learn the German language in a playful way from nursery through to preschool. Language acquisition happens automatically through daily regular interaction and support by our German nursery and kindergarten teachers as well as in our German as a Foreign Language programme. In addition, our German as a Foreign Language Programme continues throughout primary and secondary school, offered as extra classes.
Which school leaving qualifications are offered?
At our school, all classical and internationally recognised school leaving qualifications can be gained. Pupils leaving our school after grade 10 are taught according to their relevant school leaving qualification in an internally differentiated manner based on their abilities in grades 5 to 10.
- Intermediate school leaving qualification (secondary modern school leaving certificate, comprehensive school leaving certificate, GCSE)
- International Baccalaureate English/German
