Doha, Qatar, November 11, 2018: Education Above All (EAA) Foundation’s programme, Reach Out To Asia (ROTA), has successfully concluded its four-day ROTA Youth Challenge training at the Hamad Bin Khalifa University.

The ROTA Youth Challenge aims to enhance the capabilities and potential of the youth, thus creating an enabling environment for effective citizenship and leadership to contribute towards the progress and prosperity of their nation and the world.

More than 45 Male and female students in universities and high schools between the ages of 16 to 26 years’ old who are willing to attend all events, partake actively, and strive for the success of the participating projects, attended the Youth Challenge training. The 42 chosen participants went through a learning journey that enabled them to discover their voice and build their knowledge, skills, and experiences, towards creating a positive change for themselves and their communities, as well as ultimately become active leaders in their societies.

The training will be followed by a project from October 2018 till March 2019, where the participants will furthermore master the skills they learnt during the training period, until the inauguration of EMPOWER 2019.

Commenting on this occasion, Mr. Mohammed A. Saleh, National Programmes Director of ROTA, said:

“The youth are the backbone of every society and determine its future. Nowadays, they have great responsibilities towards their community and must aim to create positive and impactful change. Therefore, our youth were invited to invest and harness more of their time, energy and efforts to make the most out of this unique and empowering event that has enabled them to become capable and productive citizens to tackle the challenges faced in their communities”.

The ROTA Youth Programme supports EAA’s mandate of Quality Education through creating the suitable environment and platform for young people in Qatar to experience an interactive and participatory educational experience to learn about sustainable development and global citizenship. The programme empowers young people as learners, contributors, decision makers, and citizens, by giving them special attention; and forges future leaders who take on active leadership roles through innovative projects and ideas that will lead to a positive contribution within their local communities and to be active instruments in their country’s sustainable development, as well as have a global progressive footprint.

The outcome of the Youth Challenge is one that exceeds the borders of Qatar’s nation and touches onto the rest of the world. By forging effective citizens, the ROTA Youth Challenge is a crucial player in the progress and development of more impactful societies, in Qatar, and everywhere else for that matter.
