Mykonos, the “island of the winds,” is perhaps the most popular Greek summer destination. Understandably so!

The whitewashed stone houses, the picturesque corners, the amazing beaches and the excellent food make this island, without a doubt, a must visit. Mykonos can get really busy and crowded during the summer season (July and August). But, if you aim to visit a bit earlier or later then you will really enjoy your time! In any case, the island has something for everyone. Whether you’re looking for an activity-filled vacation or for something more relaxing, it has you covered!

What to do in Mykonos

1. Spend your days at the beach! The waters are crystal clear and absolutely refreshing (really cold as well). Panormos is a great stop while Agios Sostis is a must visit for its positive vibes and the famous little tavern nearby where everything is made on charcoals. Elia, Ornos and Kalo Livadi and two more beautiful beaches are also options! Super Paradise is for clocking in more some serious beach time. Last but not least, Kapari, known for its calmness.

2. If you want to combine a vivid daytime , then Psarou with the famous Nammos bar is an option- a very expensive one, though. Moreover, Paraga is popular for one of the best worldwide bars: Scorpios beach Bar. You also definitely can’t miss out on Ftelia beach with Alamagou beach bar.

3. Stroll around the beautiful Town of Mykonos! Explore its alleys. White houses, blue doors, colorful bougainvilleas…It provides such classical Greek island scenery! Enjoy it!

4. While strolling around, and if you are in the mood of shopping, visit the various and luxurious shops at Matogiannia. Or let me rephrase; get wonderfully lost in the alleys!

5. The windmills of Mykonos are an absolute must see!

6. Mykonos, as with most of the Greek islands, is known for the little churches tucked around. Two of the most iconic ones on the island are Paraportiani church and Agios Nikolaos.

7. Once the sun begins to set you have to enjoy a refreshing cocktail at Little Venice! It claimed its name due to the resemblance to Venice and the colorful houses built at the edge of the sea make it clear why! One truly amazing place to soak in with breathtaking views!

8. If you are looking for an alternative way of spending your morning or your evening, you have to visit Cine Manto. One of the best open-air cinemas in the Cyclades offers various movie screenings. PLUS, a tasty breakfast in a charming surrounding!

9. Visit Ano Mera village. It’s a small village with a central square and various tavernas and coffee shops around. It’s unique and stands out amongst the mass touristy spots.

10. Last but not least, you have to visit Delos island! It’s a Unesco World Heritage Site and one of the most important ones in Greece. Delos was the birthplace of Apollo and Artemis and is now uninhabited. There is a unique energy in this little island, trust me. You will feel it too!
