With the aim of publishing developments related to the efforts to address COVID-19 pandemic and reduce its spread, Qatar Media Corporation has launched a new Twitter account (@covid19qatar).


The new platform provides content in more than one language and strengthens the Corporation’s role in raising awareness of the COVID-19.
It will also contribute to fighting rumours and fake news. H E Sheikh Abdulrahman bin Hamad Al Thani, Chief Executive Officer of QMC, said: “In order to provide reliable news and awareness, Qatar Media Corporation has launched a website and a Twitter account under the name @covid19qatar.” His Excellency also said, in a tweet, that the new platform provides content in more than one language and strengthens the institution’s role in raising awareness of the COVID-19 and demonstrating government and community efforts in combating the epidemic.
The new account will provide an important source of reliable and official news about the COVID-19 epidemic, which will contribute to fighting rumours and fake news. The account will also be a live interactive platform for community outreach and the publication of the latest recommendations, medical advice, and other important information to the public.
The new account posted a video clip yesterday showing the latest epidemiological updates and statistics in Qatar as of April 15. Within the framework of Qatar’s efforts to combat the outbreak of the coronavirus disease, Qatar Media Corporation (QMC) had earlier launched a new digital platform in English.
