MIA Park: Apart from being one of the best architectural wonders in the region, the Museum of Islamic Art also boasts of a beautiful park spanning on a vast area in the center of the city. Kids cycle along the scenic promenade or enjoy picnics with their parents and other family members. Family life is buzzing in the park during the weekends. Although it is a struggle initially, you do manage to find your own space in the middle of this outdoor party.

Souq Waqif: One of the most beautiful market places in the city, Souq Waqif has an array of restaurants that offer delectable dishes. You can shop, eat and explore to your heart’s content here. Its central location makes it easily accessible by all. It is also important to note that it’s a photographer’s haven; specially the labyrinth of alleyways and quaint little shops scattered all across the souq and the animal area where you can see some of the most delightful and exquisite birds, rabbits, cats, dogs and turtles.

Aspire Park: Aspire Park behind the Villagio mall is a beautiful sprawling green area where families spend hours together (sometimes the entire day!). It’s an oasis complete with walking and cycling paths made of rubber, small lakes where you can watch the swans and ducks float by, exercising equipment, beautiful fountains and eateries to choose from! Many families and friends also indulge in a game of badminton or use the basketball court for a quick game.

 

Katara: Katara Cultural Village Foundation is a cultural center built to bring communities together during festivals and shows. This venue has variegated facilities and amenities including an opera house, theatres, an Amphitheatre and much more. Some of the best exhibitions, plays, festivals and musical evenings are hosted at Katara and enjoyed by adults and children alike. One can also hire a tent for an evening dinner with or without Shisha and enjoy the beachfront. People flock to Katara during the weekends to enjoy all that is on offer and the Chipstix (fried potato rings flavoured with spices of your choice) as well!

 

Sealine Beach Resort: An ideal weekend getaway, the Sealine beach resort is the perfect staycation that families route for. It faces the beach and offers great deals during off-peak seasons.
