Today marks the start of the first-of-its-kind “Al-Wasmi” Garden Festival which runs until Saturday ( Feb. 22) at the Cultural Village Foundation (Katara).


The Southern Katara Hills will host during the five coming days a beautiful and rich bouquet of distinguished cultural, entertainment and artistic activities, as it will be an opportunity for visitors to discover the luxurious designs of various forms of gardens, including international garden designs from Britain, France, Japan, India and Qatar.

The Festival provides a variety of live performances including fantasy shows inspired by every destination of the international parks hosted at the Green Arena.
Peter Rabbit show, Japanese story featuring Dina’s Magic Garden show, and the Jungle Book show, Alice in the English Rose Garden and the French story Beauty and the Beast will be presented at the festival.

Another exciting festival feature is the Art Garden dedicated to various types of arts, such as graffiti and caricatures, in which artists participate with live drawing in front of the audience.

As for the games area, it will be open in two periods, the first period from 10am to 1pm, and in the evening from 4 pm to 9pm.

In addition there are many competitions and workshops held in a charming natural setting, to provide a fascinating experience for the public and provide a wonderful opportunity to enjoy such as flower workshop, textile workshop, canopy coloring workshop, peacocks and henna painting, and flower making workshop.

The flower craft area will host a number of activities, including pottery making, flower planting, drawing on rocks, arranging Ikebana and flower arrangements.
The daytime fireworks will be on February 21 and 22 at 4pm.

The festival’s official sponsors are the Qatar National Tourism Council and Qatar Airways and the silver sponsor is Ooredoo.
