For those who believe that travel is an opportunity to test their photography skills, flight deal site Globehunters researched the top 60 most Instagrammed beaches in Europe. Whether you’re looking to avoid the crowds or take a shot that will make the likes pour in, these are the beaches you should know.

The most Instagrammed beach on the continent is Positano, Italy, with more than 980,000 posts. The glamorous beach on the Amalfi Coast has continued to gain international clout ever since John Steinbeck wrote about the location for Harper’s Bazaar in 1953. At the time he wrote it was “a dream place that isn’t quite real when you are there and becomes beckoningly real after you have gone.” It has since gained many celebrity visitors from the likes of Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton to Gwyneth Paltrow and Reese Witherspoon.

The second most ‘grammed beach is Brighton on England’s southern coast with more than 460,000 posts. Brighton is located about an hour south of London by train, making it a popular seaside destination for Brits. The Brighton Pier (and its amusement park rides) is one of the area’s most famous attractions, made famous by Graham Greene’s thriller novel “Brighton Rock” and “Quadrophenia,” the 1973 concept album by The Who. Below the pier, beachgoers will find a pebble beach and colorful cabanas for the perfect Instagram shot.
