IF you are wondering where to head out to get away from the summer heat but somewhere not too far, then Salalah should be on your list. Having just spent a good break away from the Doha heat, here’s 10 reasons why I think you should be heading there.
Salalah is the coolness that not only your eye needs from the scorching sun but your entire being. The average temperature right now is between 20 – 28 degrees
The flight from Doha to Salalah takes a little less than 2 hours which makes it a quick getaway for a weekend or so. You could easily spend a week there and still find you have lots to do.
If you are an adventure enthusiast, there’s plenty of places to hike, caves to climb into, and beautiful off-road drives
If you are a history enthusiast, you are in for a treat with exploring UNESCO heritage sites like the old city of ubar and the frankincense trade route.
There are waterfalls and water springs, and even rains for you to get wet in. When it’s 50 degrees here in Doha that sounds like a dream doesn’t it?
Besides the lush green landscapes during this time of the year, the Salalah tourism festival also happens between July 10 – August 25 and is a good time to explore the and learn about the culture and history of the different governorates.
You get to witness camels, cows, and mountain goats grazing freely in their natural habitat.
You know when you think of vacations on the beach, there’s always sumptuous amount of coconuts, mangoes and bananas. From milk bananas to king coconut, there’s so much of it and you don’t even want me to tell you how refreshing just dining on it all day feels- the best kind of clean eating
Salalah is just part of the Dhofar governorate. The monsoon and the greenery extends far beyond the city of Salalah. You can stay a weekend or picnic for a month there and you wouldn’t regret it.
With all of these I don’t think there’s any more reason I need to convince you to pack your bags already!
