The first international trip is something that is always cherished for many reasons. Whether it is the opportunity of understanding different cultures, or the excitement of exploring a new place, there are many reasons that make traveling abroad extremely special. But my first international trip made me realize that I began with the best. A quick trip to Qatar has left me with far too many memories and has made me believe that it is the best destination to begin.
We live in an era of wanderlust. An era when nothing fills the soul like exploring new places, meeting new people and understanding different cultures. Qatar has the perfect blend of alluring architecture, rich cultural values, and a diverse population. From the quick immigration process to the bewitching Doha cityscapes, there are many things that all made Qatar my favorite destination. Here is my take on what makes Qatar the perfect travel destination.
The Food
Imagine this, the richness of Arab cuisine meets the spices of Indian cuisine with the freshness of organic produce. This is the Qatari food that I experienced. Whether it is the middle-eastern spice infused manakeesh bi zaatar or some authentic Mughalai biryani, the food in Qatar never disappoints. The variety of food that is available in this country also makes it the go-to destination. Whether you want to enjoy the American cuisine at The Cheesecake Factory or relish some classic English breakfast at Shakespeare & Co, there is something for everyone at Qatar. My personal favorite was the filter coffee and idli sambhar at Saravana Bhavan, Doha, which easily beat my homesickness.
The Architecture
In a time, where people are busy looking inside their phone for the majority of the time, Qatar’s architecture plays a crucial role in forcing people to look around and enjoy the outside world. My journey of falling in love with the Qatari Architecture began when I entered the Hamad International Airport. It grew deeper as I explored the architectural jewels like Souq Waqif, The Museum of Islamic Art, The Katara Art Centre, among others. Doha is the perfect balance of old meets new and is an architectural marvel through and through. The antique and intricate architecture of Souq Waqif and the spiral Mosque compliment the city skyline and the man-made beauty of The Pearl, Qatar.
While most people me agree that the food and places are what really makes a place attractive, Qatar offers much more than just these things. In addition to the lip-smacking food options and awe-inspiring architecture, Qatar’s real secret lies in its people, its experience and much, much more. Alas! All those things simply cannot be put into one article and so, I leave you with a promise of coming back with more. The real stars of the Qatar travel experience will be up very soon. Until then, get your travel plans started!
