Doha: The social media users and influencers praised the Qatari team’s performance after it thrashed UAE 4-0 in the AFC Asian Cup semifinal tweeting that it was the ‘best match, best goals’ despite not being allowed to have Qatari fans.

Huge celebrations after this historical win were marked at many places across the country including Souq Waqif, Doha Corniche, Katara etc. Along excited colourful jubilation on the streets and markets, social media platforms also witnessed high level of enthusiasm and expressions of love and loyalty with Qatar.

“It is a civilised answer to the Saudi Arabia and the UAE blockade. It is a political victory more than sports victory. Four goals symbolically represent polite answer to four blockading countries; Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Bahrain and Egypt in the arena of sports,” a Twitter user said.

Hassan Al Saai tweeted: “May God save Qatar. Together we can make the miracles.”

Syed Ali tweeted: “Love for Qatar for thrashing the UAE at their home ground with 4-0. It is fabulous win for Qatar. All the best to Qatar for the final.”

“Congratulations to Qatar and H H the Amir and people from every citizen and resident and all members of the University of Qatar. A wonderful and worthy win for Al Annabi in the semi-final Asian Cup against the UAE,” Dr Hassan Al Derham, President, Qatar University tweeted.

Hafsa tweeted that despite no fans supporting to Qatar in the stadium and rudeness of the UAE fans, Qatar makes it to the final 4-0. Another Qatari citizen, Wadha tweeted: “I would like to dedicate this win to the one and only Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.”

“Qatari players were playing confidently against Emirati players who were subjected to abnormal psychological pressure from their officials and media,” Jaber Al Harami, former Editor-in-Chief of Al Sharq tweeted.

Social media users also condemned some UAE fans’ immoral acts of hurling bottles and shoes at Qatari players after Almoez Ali scored Qatar’s second goal.

Abdella Al Ishaq tweeted: “This is the only thing that UAE citizens are good at, throwing shoes at Qatar players because Qatar is beating UAE 2-0 so far.”

Regarding indecent acts by Emirati fans, Al Harami tweeted: “This is neither Arab nor Islamic ethics to do so.”

A lot of local institutions have congratulated Qatari team for the victory. Qatar Foundation tweeted: “Congratulations to our national team on reaching the Asian Cup 2019 final. We are extremely proud of you.”

“Congratulations to our national football team for the well-deserved victory and for qualifying for the first time to the AFC Asian Cup 2019 final. Wish our team every success in the final  game,” Qatar Islamic Bank tweeted.
