Cultural Village Foundation – Katara presents The Photography Festival 

Katara Photography Festival being held from the 19th October – 30th October aims to visually connect the beauty of art and people under one roof. The two week long festival will combine a series of workshops, a competition, as well as an artistic display of some of the well-known photographer’s work.

The festival will be a first-of-its-kind celebration of art reflecting Katara’s aim to amalgamate well-known artists as well as amateurs in the field of photography. The exhibition will also display the work of the online competition winners in a separate section of the gallery.

One of the chosen artists to display his art work on the first day, 19th October for the opening of the Lebanese-French Day is Tony Hage who was born in Beirut in 1961 with dual French-Lebanese nationality. He graduated from film school in Paris as an assistant director, while simultaneously studying photography (1982). In Paris, he earned himself a place in the world of fashion, particularly during Paris Fashion Week.

Through the Gamma and Maxppp agencies, his photographs were published in some of the most prestigious publications. February 2016 saw an exhibition of his work ‘’ Pris sur le vif’’at Maison Européenne de la Photographie (MEP) in Paris.

The 1st edition of the festival is a great learning platform for students and professionals alike. The exhibition promises an array of art displays by experts, who will also be present sporadically throughout the festival. During this time, visitors can indulge in a relaxed tour of the gallery to admire displays by the chosen photographers. Viewers will be able to notice clear differences in the different works of art, while cherishing every glimpse of art in the vast array of pictures.

The exhibition will be open from 10am to 10pm and the artist will be present at Building no. 19 & no. 22 – Gallery 1 from 2pm -10pm.
