DOHA: The football World Cup fever has gripped Qatar as one of the biggest sporting events in the world is set to kick off from Friday in Russia. Hotels, hypermarkets, telecom companies and other organisations have launched various offers and initiatives to double excitement of the soccer lovers.

The 2018 FIFA World Cup tournament, due to be played in Russia from June 14 to July 15, will run each day between 1pm to 12 midnight in Qatar.

Hotels have set up sports lounges where world cup matches will be live screened in giants screens. To spice up the viewing experience of the fans specially curated menus will be made available. Activities like special prizes for guessing the winning team during match will add to the enjoyment.

Sheraton Grand Doha Resort & Convention Hotel, Intercontinental Doha Hotel, Marriott Marquis City Center Doha Hotel, Mondrian Doha, Movenpick Hotel, Oryx Rotana, Radisson Blu Hotel, Shangri-La Hotel are among the hotels that have made special arrangements for special screening of matches.

Ooredoo has announced offer to watch beIN’s live and exclusive coverage of the FIFA World Cup from June 14– July 15. By just upgrading to its 30 Mbps or above Fibre Home Entertainment Plans customers can enjoy access to beIN’s World Cup matches at no extra cost.

Fans will also have the opportunity to watch the world cup action at fan zones set up at different places that will screen live matches while offering visitors family-friendly entertainment, delicious food and numerous football-related activities.

Hamad International Airport, in association with Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy (SC) and will open today a fan zone at the airport.

SC with the Ministry of Culture and Sports and Qatar Tourism Authority have joining forces to launch a 2018 FIFA World Cup fan zone at Ali Bin Hamad Al Attiyah Arena.

Set to open from Thursday until 15 July, the Qatar Fan Zone will be one of the key highlights of the fifth Qatar Summer Festival and will give people a taste of the atmosphere they can expect when Qatar hosts the next edition of the FIFA World Cup in 2022.

To celebrate the upcoming World Cup with fans and passengers, the airline launched a social media campaign last month titled ‘FIFA Fan Match’. Participants were asked to describe themselves using five emojis for a chance to win tickets to watch the semi-finals in St. Petersburg.

The highly engaging campaign was a great success, with five lucky winners from around the world looking forward to attending the World Cup semi-final match in Russia.

Many Hypermarkets have launched special offers on TVs offering various offers. Carrefour is offering beIN HD receiver with subscription to world cup matches.
