The Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) has issued a memo announcing its decision to stop certain medical services at all private healthcare facilities in the country.

According to the memo (dated March 28, 2020) published on the MoPH website, private healthcare facilities have been directed to stop providing services such as dental clinics, dermatology and laser clinics, plastic surgery clinics and surgical procedures, except for emergency cases.

In addition, the ministry has asked private healthcare facilities to stop services such as diet and slimming centres, physiotherapy centres and complementary medicine of all kinds.

The decision comes in the context of the preventive and precautionary measures taken by the MoPH to limit the spread of Covid-19 and ensure the safety of patients and healthcare workers, the memo states.
The memo has been issued by Noora Abdulla Mohamed al-Mulla, acting director, Healthcare Facilities Licensing and Accreditation Department at the MoPH.
