The Duchess of Cambridge looked suitably lovely leaving St Mary’s Hospital with the latest addition to the royal family. We finally got a glimpse of the new baby prince when the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge emerged from the Lindo Wing of St Mary’s Hospital carrying their tiny bundle of joy.

Kate looked glowing in a bright red dress – designed by Jenny Packham, the British designer she has chosen to wear while introducing each of her children to the world. Here we take a look back and compare the Duchess’ three outfits to see how her postnatal style has developed…

2013: The birth of Prince George

Prince George was born on July 22, 2013, with the Duke and Duchess introducing their son on the steps of the Lindo Wing the following evening. The Duchess wore a bespoke Jenny Packham dress in cornflower blue with white polka dots, paired with summery cream wedge espadrille heels. The pretty knee-length dress had cap sleeves and an empire waist, while the then 31-year-old’s long brunette locks were as glossy and perfect as ever, thanks no doubt to hair stylist Amanda Cook Tucker, who was seen arriving at the hospital earlier that day.

2015: The birth of Princess Charlotte

Princess Charlotte arrived on the morning of May 2, 2015 and made her first public appearance less than 10 hours later. The Duchess, then aged 33, chose another knee-length print dress created for her by Jenny Packham, this one cream with a yellow buttercup print at the top. In contrast to the blue spotty frock debuted following George’s birth, this dress had longer three-quarter length sleeves and a shift silhouette that skimmed over the new mum’s post-baby bump. The Duchess teamed the shift with nude heels once more (flesh-toned shoes have become one of her fashion trademarks) but these were leather stiletto courts, more suited to the springtime birth than the previous espadrilles.

2018: The birth of the new prince

On this day, the Duchess was wearing a bright red knee-length shift dress with three-quarter sleeves and a white lace Peter Pan collar, accessorised with delicate pearl drop earrings and nude court heels. Similar to the yellow dress worn for Princess Charlotte’s birth, this is once again a Jenny Packham design, but this time the 36-year-old opted for a block colour instead of print. The choice of red makes sense, given her penchant for primary colours for the previous births and it looks fabulous with her flowing hair, styled to perfection as usual. All in all, this is a bright and beautiful outfit that looks stunning on the Duchess.
