A recent rant about the well-known brand not having enough plus-sized options for chic and cool clothes caught my attention. Since this is the social media, finding stories of the struggles that plus sized women face while shopping is pretty easy. What is difficult to understand is the reason that these struggles exist. It is 2018, and the fashion industry has had a long time to understand and accept the simple fact that women, much like men, come in all shapes and sizes. While the experiences that men have while shopping may be similar, I, being a woman, know about the intense issues that we women face. So here are a few struggles that plus-sized women face in shopping.

It Never Fits

The human body, in general, is imperfect, so it would be desirable that the clothes we buy have a fit that covers these imperfections. However, more often than not, finding the perfect pair of jeans, shorts or even a dress is a task as it will never fit right. Whether it is the cut of the jeans, that makes our belly fat bulge, or the super-tight waistline which makes it hard to breathe, the struggle of finding a good fit is too real. And finding the right pair of joggers or yoga pants is an entirely different story.

The Price

While there are various budget-friendly brands that offer cute and adorable dresses for normal sized girls. Such options for plus sized women is often much more difficult. Moreover, if you do find something that fits well and looks pretty, the chances of it exceeding your budget is 100%. Plus-size clothes are much more expensive, and the reason behind this is still unclear for many.

The Options

Finding cute and chic clothes, as a plus-sized woman is as difficult as a treasure hunt, or beating the last level of The Legend of The Hidden Temple (If you got that reference, we can be friends!) The variety for plus-sized options in various giant brands, or even online, is extremely limited.

While all these struggles make the shopping experience much more troublesome for us plus sized women, a few dedicated boutiques and fashion outlets come as a blessing in disguise, making all our fashion dreams come true, and with the perfectly tailored fit.
