The 750m underpass facilitates free flow of traffic from Industrial Area Road towards the southern part of Doha Expressway as well as the 560m bridge linking traffic from the E-Ring Road.

The Public Works Authority (Ashghal) has opened a new underpass and bridge on Mesaimeer Interchange to traffic towards Al Wakra and Al Wukair from Industrial Area Road and E-Ring Road.

According to an official statement, the opening was carried out in collaboration with the General Directorate of Traffic. The 750m underpass facilitates free flow of traffic from Industrial Area Road towards the southern part of Doha Expressway as well as the 560m bridge linking traffic from the E-Ring Road.

Traffic movement from Al Wakra and Al Wukair via the southern part of Doha Expressway towards Doha Expressway and 22 February Street will be possible by the second quarter of 2020. While announcing the opening, engineer Ahmed Ali alEmadi from Ashghal’s Highway Project department said that the new openings will largely improve traffic movement in all directions following the removal of some diversions. The openings, according to him, would provide direct connections with other routes.

“Residents in Al Wakra and Al Wukair are the top beneficiaries from the new routes since the underpass ensures easy access
for those coming from Industrial Area Road as well as for those coming from E Ring Road alleviating traffic pressure on the nearby roads and providing more options for travellers”, the Ashghal official added.
