As any true Netflix watcher is aware, Netflix Originals come and go. However, there are a rare few that have left their mark on their ever-growing fandoms. Shows such as Stranger Things, Master of None, Narcos and of course, The Crown.

The Crown went viral the second it hit Netflix. The original series (if you’ve been living under a rock!) was a royal-family series that covered Queen Elizabeth II’s succession to power and all that followed. Fans the world over binge-watched the series and were hooked. Season 2 managed to be an even bigger hit, and when word came about of a third season, fans were ecstatic!

Netflix has now officially released the first peek into the third season of The Crown. Much to many fans disappointment, this third season will feature some new faces. The most drastic of them all being an entirely new face to the Queen. The beloved original actress that played Queen Elizabeth II, Claire Foy, will no longer be playing the part and will be replaced by Olivia Colman. Foy was recently Emmy-nominated for her role along with the 13 other Emmy nominations the show received.

Olivia Colman’s first sight as the Queen was released by Netflix  on twitter this morning:

Fans were shaken by the release. But they’re still left with even more questions. Rumours have been spreading of an all-new Prince Charles character. There has been talk that the new Prince will be played by Josh O’Connor. Another role switch to be expected is for Princess Margaret to now be played by Helena Bonham Carter. The new series will be released in 2019- a clear date has yet to be released.
