History has been made. Team Qatar Channel Swim, a team of Seven Qatari amateur athletes, set out against all odds on a mission to beat a challenge deemed unlikely. The seven men all coming from differing fields such as medicine, engineering, marketing, business administration, and law. But all united under this one cause. The cause of proving the strength of the Qatari people to the world. The cause of showing that no feat is too challenging for them. Venturing on a journey to cross the English channel.

Team Qatar Channel Swim was certainly well-prepared. The team left little to chance. It took intense training and ensuring they had the best teams and coaches possible. Coach Tim Denyer actually successfully crossed the English Channel himself on a solo mission. The team made sure they did whatever it took to make history.

On the 21st of July 2018, Team Qatar Channel Swim officially made the history they set out to make by successfully crossing the English Channel. Team Qatar Channel Swim have become the 767th relay team to conquer the waterway known as the “Everest of open water swimming.”

The attempt began at Folkestone near Dover on the English coast. The swim lasted for an entire 16 hours and 34 minutes on a relay basis and covered around 48km. Challenges were endless for the team. From strong tides to cold winds to oil slicks and even jellyfish! The struggle of the swim only made the win that much more treasured.

The team have dedicated their win entirely to His Highness the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani and to the people of Qatar. After all of the overwhelming hard work that they put in, the payoff has finally been achieved.Dr. Ali, Dr. Mohamed Jaham Al-Kuwari, Dr. Jamal Rashid Al-Khanji, Dr. Khalid Mohamed Al-Jalham, Dr. Nasser Saqr al-Mohannadi, Fahad Al-Buenain, and Talal Abdulaziz Al-Emadi are names that will forever remain etched in the canals of Qatari history.
