This weekend is a special one due to various reasons – it is time to celebrate Eid Al Fitr and the most important football tournament in the world is kicking off in Russia. Qatar and its residents are all decked up to enjoy the long weekend and not even the rising temperatures can dampen the festive spirit in the country.
Here are a few interesting events happening this week across the country.
Fireworks at Katara Esplanade
Four days of Eid celebrations will include the much awaited fireworks that will happen at Katara Esplanade. The celebrations begin with Eidiyet Katara at 8pm will include performance by Police Musical Band and conclude with fireworks at 9:30pm.

Qatar Summer Festival
Qatar Tourism Authority’s fifth edition of Qatar Summer Festival (QSF) will kick off today.
Apart from having indoor activities at all the participating malls in Qatar – Al Khor Mall, Al Mirqab Mall, B Square Mall, Doha Festival City, Gulf Mall, Hyatt Plaza, Landmark Mall and Mall of Qatar – there will be a Entertainment City opening today.
Entertainment City at Doha Exhibition and Convention Centre (DECC) will include bouncy castles, 18-hole mini golf course, ice skating rink, skill games and live entertainment shows.

Qatar Fan Zone for Russia World Cup
As the World Cup fever grips fans world over, Qatar, the next venue for the biggest sporting event, is providing a unique public experience for the residents this year.
Fan zones have been set up at different places across the city to screen live matches along with various football-related activities. These fan zones are at Ali Bin Hamad Al Attiyah Arena, Katara, Hamad International Airport and Khalifa International Stadium. Apart from having large screens, there will be other live entertainment activities, delicious food and other football-related events happening too.
Qatar has pulled out all stops to ensure that the residents do not miss out on any of the action happening at the Russia World Cup.

Five major beaches in Qatar have been renovated with shades, cafeterias, washrooms and green areas to welcome visitors during this Eid holidays.
Corniche of Al Wakra City, Al Shamal Corniche, Corniche of Al Khor City, Semaisima Beach and Doha Corniche have been equipped with new facilities.
Scavenger Hunt – Sheikh Faisal Bin Qassim Al Thani Museum
One of the most unique museums in the country, Sheikh Faisal Bin Qassim Al Thani Museum is a place worth a visit due to check out the dazzling collections that it owns.
Here is another reason to visit the place if you have already been there – a scavenger hunt for all ages will take place on June 16. Organised by 365 Adventures, there will be clues hidden in art pieces which the participants have to find within two hours.
The first and second prize winner will get to choose either Desert Safari Tour or Kayaking in Mangroves of Al Thakira.

Eid Activities at shopping malls
Dora The Explorer
At Mall of Qatar, Dora The Explorer will take her little fans exploring through Friendship Fiesta from June 14-19. With Boots, The Bubble Guppies, Diego and PAW Patrol’s Chase and Marshall, kids will find their way to hidden objects.
Hotel Transylvania
At Doha Festival City, Hotel Transylvania monsters will perform their exclusive ‘What a Surprise’ birthday version show from June 15-19.
Alice in Wonderland
At Lagoona Mall, kids will be taken on a fantasy adventure with the live performance of Alice in Wonderland. Taking place at three times in a day, the show will be on from June 15-19.
