DOHA, 18 February 2019: Qatar Show 2019 (formerly the Doha Jewellery and Watches Exhibition) opens tomorrow, Wednesday 20 February 2019, at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Center (DECC) for its highly anticipated 16th edition, which will run until 25 February. More than 500 international brands will exhibit their exquisite collections of pearls, watches and fine jewellery.

Organised by Qatar National Tourism Council (QNTC) in collaboration with Auditoire, the event is considered one of the largest and fastest-growing luxury exhibitions in the region.

The 16th edition is presented under the theme “A New Era of Luxury”, and the public can enjoy extravaganza and luxury experience for six days, from Wednesday 20 February until Monday 25 February, opening its doors from 12:00 noon until 10:00 pm except for Wednesday and Friday where the doors are open at 3:00 pm and 4:00 pm consecutively.

Qatar Show provides a platform for communication between the public, brands and designers, and allows Qatari designers to communicate with their global peers, share their knowledge and benefit from multiple experiences in the pearl, watch and jewellery industry. The exhibition will host a series of free workshops for the public to develop their skills in the jewelry making industry, in addition to the daily talks where industry experts from around the world will meet daily at 6pm in the “Al Majlis” hall to discuss the future of the jewelry industry.

The Qatar Forum returns for the second consecutive year, with the participation of leading experts in the pearl, jewellery and watch industry in Qatar and around the world. The forum will be held at the Marriott Marquis City Center Doha on Thursday, 21 February, from 10 am to 4 pm. The forum will shed light on the history of the jewelry industry in Qatar through a special session in which Dr. Najla Ismael, Qatari jewelry expert at the Qatar National Museum, and Dr. Jochen Sokoli, an expert in Islamic arts and archeology will lecture. Mr. Alex Popov, President of the Diamond Exchange in Moscow, Mr. Geoffroy Ader of France’s Artcurial, and Mr. Melvin Kirtley, Head Gemmologist at Tiffany House will also attend the forum. The forum will discuss several interesting topics related to Qatar, including the history of jewelry and natural pearls in Qatar, and the collection of precious watches.

The Young Qatari Designers (YQDs) initiative, held under the patronage of H.E. the Prime Minister of Qatar and Minister of Interior, will return this year to present the creations of 12 local designers in a pavilion dedicated to showcasing Qatari talent.
