QF member’s initiative features a wide range of events
Doha, Qatar, October 24 2018: Qatar Green Building Council (QGBC), a member of Qatar Foundation (QF), today unveiled the full program of events for the upcoming Qatar Sustainability Week 2018. Held under the patronage of His Excellency the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani, the initiative will take place from October 27 to November 3, 2018.
The details were announced at a press conference attended by Engineer Meshal Al Shamari, Director, QGBC; Faisal Al-Malki, Project Management Director, Msheireb Properties; Munjid.O.R. Abdel Majid, CEO, Redco Construction Almana; Manar Khalifa Almuraikhi, Director PR and Corporate Communications, Ooredoo; Mounir Bensegueni, Board Member, Tadmur Holding; Dr. Fadi Jomaa, General Manager, Al Qamra Facilities Management (QAFAM); Robert Willem Cats, General Manager, Cofely Besix Mannai Facility Management on behalf of Engie/Mannai; and Judith Camacho, Operations Manager, Contactless.
Now in its third year, Qatar Sustainability Week 2018, organized by QGBC, is an annual initiative that aims to encourage people and organizations to act more sustainably. Through a program of informative, fun, and interactive events, Qatar Sustainability Week 2018 serves as a platform to promote Qatar’s sustainability vision.
Engineer Meshal Al Shamari, Director, QGBC, said: “As a pioneer in conducting environmentally sustainable practices for green building design and development in Qatar, QGBC is looking forward to Qatar Sustainability Week 2018. There are so many fantastic events taking place that promote our nation’s environmental protection and sustainability goals.

Qatar Sustainability Week 2018 will kick off with the Qatar Green Building Conference, taking place from October 28-30 at The Sheraton Doha Hotel. The conference, which is held under the patronage of Her Excellency Sheikha Hind bint Hamad Al Thani, Vice Chairperson and CEO of Qatar Foundation, will address major sustainability solutions and their impact on driving a more resilient built environment for Qatar, the Gulf region, and beyond.
A ceremony for the Qatar Sustainability Awards 2018 will take place on October 28, when 27 organizations will each receive a coveted award in a different category, recognizing their efforts in furthering sustainable development and environmental protection in Qatar.
Finally, a public programme of events will take place throughout Qatar Sustainability Week 2018, this year featuring a greater variety of activities than ever before. Fashion and art enthusiasts are invited to attend ‘Upcycling Fashion’, an exhibition hosted by the Doha Fire Station Art Center that includes installations made from recycled clothes, while fitness fans can take part in ‘Plogging’ – picking up litter while jogging – at a group session organized by Global Shapers Doha Hub. There are also many activities for families, including a special tour of Baladna farm organized by Hotel Warwick Doha.
