Under the patronage of HE Sheikha Al Mayassabint Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, its Chairperson, Qatar Museums (QM) announced its participation in the upcoming Government Procurement & Contracting Conference and Exhibition (Moushtarayat 2018), which will be held from April 23 to 25. QM’s participation highlights its continuous commitment to supporting local companies, including SMEs.

Moushtarayat aims to create synergy between the private and public sector in Qatar by offering tendering and contracting opportunities for SMEs and local businesses. Through its participation in the event, QM seeks to interact with local suppliers, exchange information about potential business partnerships, and introduce local businesses to its procurement process.

Commenting on the announcement, QM’s Mr. Hamad Ali Abel – Director of procurement and contracts stated: “With the recent regional changes around us, it has become more essential than ever to accelerate the achievement of the Qatar National Vision 2030 which aims to diversify the country’s economy and help us achieve self-sufficiency in all aspects. Qatar Museums is fully committed to this vision and to supporting a thriving and diversified private sector – today, tomorrow and in the future.”

Since its inception, QM has been one of the country’s major institutions working towards helping Qatar transition from a natural resource-based to a knowledge-based economy. At the heart of this, is a commitment to helping Qatar originate art, creativity and heritage experiences from within.

To date, QM has provided numerous opportunities for local companies to play vital roles in the organisations supply chain across a range of sectors. In addition, QM and QDB have an existing partnership which offers SMEs in the fields of hospitality, food and beverage, merchandising, retail, and creative products and design new business opportunities. The partnership will see both organisations develop a number of SME friendly-programmes to establish a culture of entrepreneurship.

The opportunities it provides to such businesses are only set to grow as the country prepares for the opening of major museum developments, including the National Museum of Qatar and the 3-2-1 Qatar Olympic and Sport Museum.
