17 Sep 2017, Doha:
Katara –The Cultural Village Foundation will inaugurate its first ever Katara Photography Festival this 2017, while visually connecting the beauty of art and people under one roof. The advent of the fest will help ameliorate community living through the lens of art.
The festival will be a first-of-its-kind celebration of art reflecting Katara’s aim to amalgamate well-known artists as well as amateurs in the field of photography. The fortnight long festival will showcase professional photographers and their work through exhibitions, where Qatar residents will also get an opportunity to meet the experts and know them better.
To help further strengthen the country’s aspiration to embrace diversity, the photographers will represent different nationalities. Additionally, the festival will also host variegated workshops that will be conducted by the chosen professionals to talk about different aspects of this art form. HE Dr. Khalid Bin Ibrahim Al Sulaiti, General Manager, Cultural Village Foundation – Katara, commented on the upcoming festival stating, “It is a great time for Katara Cultural Village to host a photography event that will help reassure and instill a sense of belonging and community in the residents of Qatar. Katara is a place for all and this is the time to unite nationalities and embrace diversity in a world of pure art, while striving for excellence.
The festival resonates with the country’s goal to establish unity in diversity by bridging the gap between professionals and amateurs.” Community engagement will be further boosted by a competition that will also be held alongside the professional exhibits, to provide amateur photographers with a platform to showcase their work as well – some of which will be exhibited in a gallery for all to admire. The quality of work that will be demonstrated will prove the wealth of talented photographers in Qatar, waiting
to step into the photography universe. With this festival, Katara Cultural Village further affirms its support towards the human development pillar of the Qatar National Vision 2030, by bringing
together all communities to celebrate the most beautiful aspect of life – Art.
