The 5th AJYAL FILM FESTIVAL continues to wow their visitors like every year. If you thought you have seen it all, think again.

After a 4 day success, Ajyal is to be held till 4th of December. The past 4 days have been eventful with filled with exhibitions, local and international films, talk shows, Geekdom and many more.

And all this falls under a great timeline for visitors as well as participants. You can watch a whole film and still have enough time to go to the on-going events or live tournaments. There is so much more happening these two days.

Catch the Conversation with Shirin Neshat for 60 min today at 6 PM happening at the film festival.

The acclaimed Iranian visual artist and filmmaker Shirin Neshat will take us on a journey through her life as an artist in exile and her politically-charged work which spans photography, film and video work. Her latest film, ‘Looking for Oum Kulthum’, features as an Ajyal Special Screening this year. The conversation will be moderated by Fatma Al Sehlawi, a Qatari architect and founder of Atlas Bookstore in Doha.

Ajyal also has films so intriguing that it leaves you with a whole new perspective of cinema. They have spectacular script writers and cinematographers.

My Little Beasts’ is a world- premiered cine-concert which shows how a child finds solace in the arms of zoo animals and teaches us the value of friendship, even if it’s through little beasts.

This series will be accompanied by live music by Anthony Boulc’h and Fanch Minou’s and is sure to please film and music enthusiasts alike.

The movie premieres this Sunday, 3rd December at 6:30 PM.

GEEKDOM

One of the main attraction of Ajyal Film Festival is Geekdom. It’s a recurring event of Ajyal Film Festive which celebrates pop-culture, from comics, movies, and television series to video games, art, works and cosplay. Geekdom will be full of lively tournaments, comic-a-thon competition, cosplay day and more. Whatever your passion, Geekdom is an unmissable event for any geek, nerd, fangirl or fanboy!

Geekdom will be held from 10 AM – 10 PM this 3rd and 4th of December.

LeBlockade

LeBlockade exhibition is another creation of great artists who put their minds together to present a multimedia exhibition of films, digital artworks and installations that showcase the creative movement that emerged after the blockade. The movement is both inspiring and unifying for locals and expats alike. Although the events that led to these have been unfortunate, this work is a testament to the resolve and strength of the Qatari art community.

It can be visited on 3rd Dec from 10 AM to 10 PM and 4th Dec from 10 AM to 4 PM.

Ajyal Talks

The second session of Ajyal Talks was presented today by Doha Film Institue which lead to the discussion of the beginning of powerful social movements due to the current national situation.

Shoug Shaheen, broadcast journalist, Abdulaziz Youssef, artist and co-founder of Qartoon and Mirsad Purivatra, Director of the Sarajevo Film Festival, shared their experience of this phenomenon during a discussion entitled ‘*Overcome: How Art Beats Adversity*’. Moeed Ahmad, a journalist at Al Jazeera was the one behind moderation. It follows up with the LeBlockade exhibition.
