With the entire human population obsessed with the likes of Beyonce and Drake, many artists go unnoticed.

Artists from all over the world are creating new music now more than ever. With tours and performances cancelled, many artists are honing in on their craft and producing new music. Below are ten artists any listener shouldn’t miss out on – whether they’re a fan of new emerging artists or classics that have died out.

  1. The Rare Occasions

The Rare Occasions are an LA-based, New England-bred indie rock band known for their explosive garage rock anthems with catchy vocal harmonies.

Brian McLaughlin (singer) and Luke Imbusch (drummer) have been making music together since their early teenage years. They formed The Rare Occasions while attending college in Boston where they met Jeremy Cohen (bassist). Since then, the band have toured nationally, won the John Lennon Songwriting Contest, and released a vast catalogue of music online.

Favourite songs: Notion, Origami, Futureproof

  1. The Breeders

The Breeders started as a way for Pixies bassist Kim Deal and Throwing Muses guitarist Tanya Donelly to let out some suppressed creative energy, but thanks to the success of their second album Last Splash and its smash hit single “Cannonball,” the band became one of the biggest — and quirkiest — acts of the early-’90s alternative rock revolution.

Though the large gaps of time between their later albums made their career trajectory less than predictable, the Breeders’ appeal, not to mention their influence on later bands, lasted for decades.

Favourite songs: Drivin’ on 9, Cannonball, Off you

  1. Vundabar

Vundabar is an American indie rock band from Boston, Massachusetts. Vundabar formed when Brandon Hagen and Drew McDonald were in high school. Vundabar released their first full-length album in 2013 titled Antics. In 2015, Vundabar released their second full-length album titled Gawk.

  1. Tame Imapala

Tame Impala is the psychedelic music project of Australian multi-instrumentalist Kevin Parker. At first listen, Tame Impala’s Currents sounds like a light and breezy album. It’s is filled with nostalgia-inducing synths evocative of hazy summer mornings and listless afternoons. But if there’s a bittersweet aftertaste, it’s because those hazy synths obscure Kevin Parker’s melancholy lyrics.

Favourite songs: Keep on Lying, Borderline, The Less I Know The Better

Aurora (stylized in all caps), is a Norwegian singer, songwriter, dancer and record producer, she gained notoriety with her debut extended play (EP), Running with the Wolves (2015), which contained the sleeper hitRunaway“.
