Qatar University (QU) College of Pharmacy students won nine awards at the 65th IPSF World Congress in Rwanda. The Congress gathered around 300 pharmacy students and recent graduates from 53 countries worldwide.

Shimaa Ahmed Aboelbaha, a MSc student, won best scientific poster award for her study on “Potential Cardiotoxic Effects of Venetoclax: In-vitro study on Rat Cardiomyocyte H9C2 Cell Line,” which was conducted with Bodoor Aboujabal under the supervision of Dr. Hesham Korashy. Shimaa also won first place in Best Advanced Counselling. Kheloud Khaled Hemida Awad, a P2 student, won first place in Patient Counselling Beginners.
May Riyad Alasmar, a PharmD student, won third place for the educational poster award on “Stakeholder Perspective on Provision of Extended Pharmacy Services in the Middle East: A Systematic Review,” which was conducted with Wafaa Demdoum under the supervision of Dr. Zachariah Nazar. May also won first place in Individual Clinical Skills for beginners, second place for Individual Clinical Skills Advanced and second place for Patient Counselling Advanced. Diala Kadri Alhaj Moustafa, a P2 student won second place in Patient Counselling Beginners.
QU’s College of Pharmacy is the first and only pharmacy degree program in the State of Qatar. The College offers a 5-year BSc (Pharmacy), 6-year Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) and a 2-year MSc (Pharm) degree program.
