The Museum of Islamic Art (MIA) hosted the closing ceremony of its popular  Ambassadors’ Programme. The programme invites secondary schools in Qatar to participate in an introductory lecture where students learn about the various activities the museum undertakes and then choose a museum department to focus their research project on.

The closing ceremony saw students presenting their findings to a prestigious panel of judges which included members from the Ministry of Education and MIA staff. Over 14 schools participated in this year’s edition with Amna bint Wahab Secondary School for Girls winning the first place, while the Palestinian School and Hassan bin Thabet Secondary School for Boys won the second and third respectively.

Ambassadors aims to create an awareness about the role of museums as centers of culture, education and entertainment.  At the same time, it aims to improve students’ sense of responsibility and encourage them to research, observe and work practically via activities associated with the project.  The programme is the latest initiative launched by MIA to preserve culture and artistic heritage through the effective use of knowledge, experience and creativity.
