Coffee has officially clinched the title of world’s most versatile beverage. The drink that notoriously helps keep you awake and alert may help you live longer, according to research showing that just one cup of coffee a day lowers your risk of death by 12 percent.
As NBC reports, researchers studied 200,000 people for six years and found that drinking coffee is linked to a reduced risk of heart disease, cancer, stroke, kidney disease, diabetes and respiratory disease. These effects ring true regardless of the person or roast of the coffee they’re drinking.
This is amazing news for pretty much everyone in existence. If you were thinking about weaning yourself off of coffee, this is a convincing reason not to. You might be addicted to caffeine, but you’re going to live forever. Congratulations.
