For the longest time, I have always been lucky to have people gift me cosmetics. A lot of people know my love for cosmetics, and I have always been vocal about my hobby. So for the longest time, I have been using this Perfect Fit Precious Mineral BB Cream from Etude House. Until one day, I received another variant from the line of Etude House.

I have long doubted the authenticity of my Perfect Fit because I am an avid visitor of Etude House shops and I always see their testers and noticed the tube it is in, is quite different. Now that I received a Cotton Fit variant, my suspicions were confirmed.

A lot of online sellers and fair merchants dub these as “SG Authentic” and claiming these came from Singapore and that all of these are authentic. Sure, for the longest time, I have also believed that. In fact, I also gave a bunch of “SG Authentic” cosmetics to other people (that I regret now) without this knowledge. As true as it is, they are not exactly the same as the ones we see in malls and official outlets.

But now, I have an “SG Authentic” and an Original Precious Mineral BB Cream, that I confirmed in a store in Quezon City (I shamelessly brought the tube that I own and asked permission to one of the sales keepers to view them side by side). And now, I want to share this information with all, just in case you are buying online or from a merchant.

I mentioned before that I was using the “SG Authentic” BB Cream for the longest time. While it did not damage my skin or anything, there is a difference in the consistency of the BB Cream. It is denser than the original one, which is more liquid and that a very small drop can already cover my face well.

While Etude House Precious Mineral BB Cream carries Perfect Fit, Blooming Fit and Cotton Fit, there is also a noticeable smell difference. The “SG Authentic” smell is faint while the original smells stronger.

On to the packaging. You will immediately see the difference in size. The “SG Authentic” is taller as the pump is longer. The edge of the pump cap is sharper in the “SG Authentic” compared to the original.

The details on the tube and box have differences, too. There is no shade specification on the box of the “SG Authentic” one. The top portion of the tube of the “SG Authentic” is stamped with the manufacturing date, while the original is stamped with the expiration date. The tube itself is also different in thickness. The “SG Authentic” tube is easier to bend compared to the original.

While the argument about the “SG Authentic” cosmetics is good for a whole new different blog post, it is good to know how these cosmetics compare to the original, store-bought ones. I personally do not see any remarkable effect of using them, but getting justice for the price should be a good reason to be knowledgeable about what you buy. Upon research, an “SG Authentic” Etude House BB Cream would cost a lot lesser while the store-bought ones are more expensive. We cannot blame people who opt to use these products as they are more budget-friendly. While it is “quite safe” in my book, make sure that the price is right.

Let us know what you think!
